What is THCA?
THCA is the acidic form of THC. It’s found in raw hemp and cannabis. In its original form, THCA is not psychoactive. This is due to its molecular structure. THCA has an extra carboxyl ring, which makes its shape incompatible with the CB1 receptors in our endocannabinoid system. Since it can’t attach to these receptors, we don’t experience a high.
However, when THCA is exposed to heat (from a lighter, a vape, or the oven), it loses that carboxyl ring, and converts to THC. Without the ring, it’s the perfect shape for attaching to our CB1 receptors. The entire reason that you decarb your flower in the oven before making it into butter for edibles is to convert the THCA in the weed to THC so your edibles actually hit.
Converting THCA to THC is as easy as smoking one of our THCA blunts or prerolls. The heat from the flame of your lighter activates the chemical process so that by the time you inhale, you’re consuming THC.
My review of the DVNT THCA blunt
I was lucky enough to receive a box of several THCA blunts. I love a good sativa, so naturally I started out with the Sour Diesel. Sativas are always my favorite for waking and baking, and this was no exception. This blunt has a clean, herbaceous flavor profile. I really enjoyed the earthy taste. Classic, refreshing, and smooth. I smoked about half this blunt and felt really high; instantly engulfed in a wave of carefree euphoria. I decided to do a little living room yoga to bring some awareness back into my body. This was honestly a great move. I felt really creative and peaceful in my practice, and could really focus on my movements.
After thirty minutes of yoga, I was definitely still high, but significantly more alert and focused. I turned on a light-hearted comedy podcast and dove into some chores (while laughing extra hard at every joke). Laundry, dishes, watering my plants… all taken care of. I even caught up on some writing. The high was really relaxing, yet stimulating. For me, there was no anxiety or paranoia. I felt great all morning, and truly enjoyed myself. I found everything I was looking for in a high, and I still have half a blunt left.
Personally, I did not notice a difference between the effects of THCA and cannabis from the dispensary. The high is just as potent. It truly is an experience of all those wonderful THC effects we know and love. I would recommend this blunt to anyone looking to add a little something extra to their day. It hits just like my favorite sativas from the dispensary.
The bottom line
THCA is the cannabinoid for you if you’re looking for a potent, yet relaxing high to add into your routine. All you need to convert THCA into the famously psychoactive THC is a lighter, and one of our THCA blunts or prerolls. I’m happy to share my positive review of the DVNT Sour Diesel THCA blunt with all of you. I really could not tell the difference between the THCA and “regular weed”. The high delivers, and the blunt is super smooth and earthy.
