Have you tried HHC yet?  This cannabinoid has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years.  Users enjoy HHC as an alternative to THC.  But what is HHC, really?  What are the benefits of HHC?  Keep reading to learn all about this cannabinoid, and whether HHC’s benefits stack up to those of THC.

What is HHC?

Before we dive into its benefits, let’s discover its origins.  HHC is a cannabinoid that was first synthesized from cannabis-derived THC in the 1940s.  American chemist Roger Adams added hydrogen to THC, which created HHC.  This process of hydrogenation is still used today to create margarine from vegetable oil.  The addition of hydrogen makes HHC different from THC in a couple key ways.  These differences are part of the benefits of HHC.

Longer shelf life

One of the benefits of HHC is that it is more shelf stable than THC.  This means it is less susceptible to degradation from light, heat, and oxygen.  Whether you’re a sporadic smoker, or simply someone that likes to be prepared for anything, the long shelf life of HHC means you can stock up without the concern of your supply going bad before you can enjoy it.

Less potent

HHC’s molecular structure means that it attaches less securely to our CB1 receptors than THC.  Our CB1 receptors are part of our endocannabinoid system.  An attachment with these receptors determines the high that we feel after consuming a cannabinoid.  HHC is still psychoactive, but not as strong as THC.  Its potency is estimated to be between that of delta 8 and THC.

Though HHC is less potent than THC, reduced potency can actually be a benefit.  Reduced potency can mean less potential for anxiety or paranoia.  Plus, you can enjoy a nice buzz without your day’s productivity coming to an absolute standstill.  Not to mention, less potential for burnout.  I’ve found the HHC high to be more stimulating than a THC high.  This makes HHC an ideal cannabinoid for spicing up your day, without the setbacks of becoming too high to function.

Accessible

One of the main benefits of HHC is its legal status.  The reason that HHC, and other cannabinoids like delta 8, have only become popular recently is due to the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill.  This bill legalized hemp on a federal level with the goal of increasing its production for goods like clothing, rope, and food.  Legally, hemp is defined as cannabis containing .3% or less delta 9 THC by dry weight.  Since HHC can be derived from hemp, it’s considered legal federally.

However, individual states have responded with legislation of their own following this boom in psychoactive hemp cannabinoids.  Some states have affirmed the federal law, some have imposed restrictions to regulate the market, and others have banned these products altogether.  Definitely stay aware of what’s going on in your state.

What to expect

So what can you expect from an HHC high?  In my own experience, I’ve found the effects of HHC to be similar to those of THC, but less overpowering.  I definitely feel all the classic symptoms of being high, but without losing my focus.  I like that HHC is a little more stimulating.  When I consume HHC, I feel energized, creative, euphoric, and relaxed.  You can definitely expect to feel some of those classic side effects, including dry mouth, red eyes, and the munchies.  I personally did not experience paranoia or anxiety, and I didn’t feel like I needed to sleep as soon as the high wore off (like I do when a cannabis high wears off).

The bottom line

So, what are the benefits of HHC?  You can enjoy the effects of THC, but without the intensity.  HHC also has a longer shelf life than THC, so you can stock up without worrying about your supply going stale.  And since HHC is federally legal, it’s more accessible for many of those who live in states that haven’t already legalized cannabis.  If you’re ready to spice up your routine without the burnout, then check out our online store and have the benefits of HHC delivered straight to your door.
